A closer look at the route
Departing from Kelaat M'Gouna, the capital of Damask rose, this trek winds through one of the most beautiful regions of southern Morocco: rose gardens in full bloom each spring, small distillery cooperatives still pressing petals by hand, Berber villages clinging to cliff faces, and the spectacular Dadès and Todra Gorges carved deep into red rock.
An accessible and deeply cultural itinerary, punctuated by shared meals with local families and unhurried conversation over tea. Four to five hours of walking a day, with private transport included between stages, leaves plenty of time to linger at a cooperative or a viewpoint that catches your eye.
Marrakech → Kelaat M'Gouna
Drive through the High Atlas via Tichka Pass. Arrival in the Valley of Roses, visit a rose distillery cooperative and first walk among the rose gardens and kasbahs. Overnight with local family.
Heart of the Valley of Roses
Two days of walking between Berber villages, terraced fields and rose gardens. Lunch with local families and encounters with rose growers. Overnight in gîtes.
Dadès Gorges
Trek through the red walls of the Dadès Gorges, between sculpted cliffs and 'monkey finger' rock formations. Overnight in a gîte facing the gorges.
Todra Gorges → Road of Kasbahs
Morning walk through the Todra Gorges (300m walls), then along the palm grove. Return via the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs with stops at the finest viewpoints.
